Aiming for camp return
Walker is hoping to get medical clearance for full participation in practice by the start of training camp, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
The safety tore his Achilles tendon in Week 3 last season, and while he was on the field for OTAs, he was only a partial participant. Walker topped 100 tackles in both 2019 and 2021, and if he's fully healthy by Week 1, he could keep his streak of big odd-numbered seasons going in 2023 as one of the leaders of an improving Lions secondary.

Fresh off his second 100-tackle campaign in three years, Walker was on pace for another big season before going down Week 3 of last season with a torn Achilles. While his recovery seems to have gone well, as the 28-year-old is on pace to return to full activities before training camp, it's fair to wonder whether Walker's own team has confidence that he can return to full strength after the team invested in two second-round safeties over the past two offseasons while bringing in nickelback C.J. Gardner-Johnson on a one-year contract.
