Yahoo DFS Baseball: Sunday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

Sunday's 15-game MLB slate begins at 1:05 PM Eastern time. There's no shortage of selection, but the players below stand out as the day's best value plays.

PITCHER

Kyle Gibson, MIN vs. TOR ($34): Gibson's price continues to ignore his recent surge, making him a terrific option at $34. The righty has been among the best pitchers in baseball over his past five starts, going 4-0 with a 1.38 ERA and 26:3 K:BB in 32.2 innings. There's little reason for that form to diminish against a Blue Jays offense that ranks 27th at 4.23 runs per game.

Taijuan Walker, ARI at SF ($40): Walker has been fabulous on the road, posting a 2.71 ERA away from hitter-friendly Chase Field. AT&T Park provides a nearly perfect pitching environment for him with a 28th-ranked .85 park factor, plus Walker gets to face a Giants lineup that ranks 29th with 3.95 runs per game. He also brings a sizable contribution in the strikeout department with a 20.9 percent strikeout rate and will be heavily favored to win with the backing of Arizona's ninth-ranked offense.

CATCHER

Yadier Molina, STL at CHC ($15): Molina has been a two-way force as usual, providing top-notch defense behind the plate while producing a .360 wOBA against lefties. That number should rise even further with Jose Quintana on the mound for Chicago, as the southpaw has a pedestrian 4.78 home ERA. Wrigley Field's fourth-ranked 1.13 park factor should make life difficult for Quintana once again while benefiting Molina here.

FIRST BASE

Freddie Freeman, ATL vs. NYM ($24): Mets starter Robert Gsellman has struggled outside the pitcher-friendly Citi Field with a 7.61 ERA in 36.2 road innings. Freeman should help continue that trend judging by his .435 wOBA against righties. Batting third in Atlanta's order will also help Freeman maximize his RBI and run-scoring opportunities in what should be a productive day for Atlanta's offense as a whole.

SECOND BASE

Wilmer Difo, WAS vs. LAD ($7): The switch-hitting Difo has vastly outperformed his $7 valuation from the right side with a .386 wOBA. That's where he'll be hitting from against Dodgers lefty Hyun-jin Ryu, making Difo a strong pick for those looking to lock up expensive options at other positions.

THIRD BASE

Rafael Devers, BOS at TB ($11): The left-handed batting Devers has taken the league by storm with a .291/.351/.488 line through 45 games. Expect another strong performance against Rays right-hander Jake Odorizzi, who has a 5.38 ERA and 6.40 FIP since June 2.

SHORTSTOP

Didi Gregorius, NYY vs. BAL ($14): Given that he's already got 23 home runs and 80 RBI, Gregorius is underpriced at $14 even before considering the opposition. Baltimore starter Ubaldo Jimenez has surrendered a .405 wOBA to left-handed hitters, making this an even more appetizing matchup for Gregorius. Yankee Stadium's 10th-ranked 1.04 park factor doesn't hurt, either.

OUTFIELD

Jacoby Ellsbury, NYY vs. BAL ($19): Ellsbury's another player primed to succeed at home against Jimenez. The veteran outfielder's season-long .345 wOBA against righties is decent, but he's been much better of late with a .351/.456/.526 line overall since Aug. 26.

Matt Olson, OAK at PHI ($21): Olson's been a major source of power with 20 homers in just 52 games, including 12 in his past 18. He's in an ideal situation to add another one given the combination of venue and opponent. Citizens Bank Park has a league-leading 1.41 park factor while Phillies starter Henderson Alvarez hasn't pitched in the majors since going 0-4 with a 6.25 ERA in four 2015 starts with the Marlins.

Avisail Garcia, CWS at DET ($21): Detroit southpaw Matthew Boyd has a 5.75 ERA and 1.68 WHIP while allowing a wOBA over .360 to batters from both sides. Garcia should have no trouble capitalizing on those struggles, as he's pummeled left-handed pitching all year to the tune of a .447 wOBA in 119 at-bats. He also benefits from batting in the clean-up spot and comes in swinging a hot bat with 12 hits in his past four games and 17 in his past seven.
