Suffers first career loss at UFC 221
LightweightBellator
February 10, 2018
Kennedy lost to Alexander Volkanovski via TKO (strikes) at 4:57 of Round 2 at UFC 221 on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Not only did Kennedy lose for the first time in his professional career, he lost in style! Essentially no-showing the entire fight, Kennedy found himself on his back about 30 seconds after the opening bell rang and he was never able to recover. He ate countless hard shots (103 strikes in total) and it's a minor miracle that he almost made it to the end of Round 2. The 25-year-old Canadian entered Saturday's action undefeated, but Kennedy's record doesn't match the eye test. He looks like little more than roster depth despite the impressive numbers.

Will face Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 221
LightweightBellator
January 3, 2018
Kennedy will face Alexander Volkanovski in a featherweight bout at UFC 221 in Perth, Australia on Feb. 10, Danny Austin of The Province reports.
ANALYSIS
As he was hoping, Kennedy will finally get the chance to take on Volkanovski after an undisclosed injury forced Kennedy to withdraw from their scheduled matchup at UFC Sydney in November. Kennedy's undefeated record (11-0 overall, 3-0 UFC) will definitely be put to the test against Volkanovski, who owns an impressive 16-1 record in professional fights (3-0 UFC) and is coming off a dominant victory over Shane Young (via unanimous decision) at UFC Fight Night 121 in November. Both fighters are in the midst of double-digit unbeaten streaks that date back to 2013, with Kennedy's sitting at 11 matches and Volkanovski's at 13.
Hoping for rematch with Alexander Volkanovski

December 3, 2017
Kennedy is hopeful that he'll be able to meet Alexander Volkanovski in early 2018, Alec Gearty of SportingNews.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kennedy was set to take on Volkanovski at UFC Sydney in November, but was forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury. Since then, it appears that the fighter has recovered enough to challenge Volkanovski to a bout in Feb. 2018. While nothing has been decided since Volkanovski defeated Shane Young in Australia, it's likely that he'll look to a high-level opponent instead of Kennedy.

September 17, 2017
Kennedy will face Alexander Volkanovski in a lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night 121 on November 18 in Sydney, Alexander Lee of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Kennedy has relied on takedowns followed by ground control thus far in his UFC career. While his three victories with the promotion have ended in unanimous decision, he has proven that he can take people to the floor. He lands an average seven takedowns each match and will have to be careful when working his way in on Volkanovski, who has strong striking. At 25 years old, Kennedy has racked up an 11-0 record (3-0 UFC).
Leans on takedowns to dominate Kyle Bochniak
LightweightBellator
July 22, 2017
Kennedy defeated Kyle Bochniak via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC on FOX 25 on Saturday in Long Island, New York.
ANALYSIS
Scoring 11:34 worth of control time in a 15-minute fight generally results in you coming away victorious and that was the case for Kennedy on Saturday. The Canadian landed eight takedowns in this one and he has now connected on 21 takedowns in his three UFC fights. Kennedy is in excellent condition, he's young (24) and is a superb grappler. The only issue is that he hasn't been able to earn any stoppage victories in the UFC. It hasn't hurt him yet, but it may once he starts facing better opponents.
