February 21, 2018
Palhares is slated to fight Aliaskhab Khizriev on March 30, Guilherme Cruz of MMAfighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS

Facing indefinite suspension
WelterweightPFL
August 4, 2015
Palhares is being stripped of his welterweight title and will face an indefinite suspension after refusing to let go of his submission on Jake Shields during their fight over the weekend, Marc Raimondi of MMA Fighting reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite winning the fight, Palhares is now in a world of hurt since WSOF president Ray Sefo is making a clear attempt to punish the fighter when considering this isn't the first time he's refused to let go of a submission after the fight was declared in his favor by the referee. Unless he plans to appeal the suspension, Palhares won't factor into any decisions for the immediate future.
Rousimar Palhares: Defends WSOF Title Against Jake Shields, Again Refuses To Let Go Of Submission
WelterweightPFL
August 1, 2015
Palhares defeated Jake Shields via submission (kimura) at 2:02 of Round 3 in Saturday's WSOF welterweight title fight at WSOF 22 in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Palahres won the fight, but he again managed to embarrass himself by holding onto the submission for several seconds after Shields tapped out. The guy just doesn't seem to get it. He was released from his UFC contract back in October 2013 because of the same stunt. He signed with WSOF a month later, at which point WSOF president Ray Sefo warned Palhares that such actions would not be tolerated. It's a shame because Palhares is a solid fighter and one of the best submission specialists in the world. He has now successfully defended his title against both Shields and Jon Fitch, but it remains to be seen if he will face repercussions for his continued antics.
