Falls in first fight since 2020
BantamweightUFC
April 6, 2024
De Randamie lost to Norma Dumont via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Fighting for the first time since October 2020, de Randamie looked predictably strong whenever the two women were at striking range, but GDR allowed Dumont to land 6-of-8 takedowns and spent far too much time in the first and third frames being controlled on the mat to earn a decision. If there's a clear weakness in Germaine's game, it's her takedown defense and given all the time away and the fact she'll be 40 years of age in a few weeks, it's likely to get worse not better moving forward. Assuming she made it out of this fight healthy, it's imperative GDR do whatever is necessary to get back in the octagon ASAP.

Will face Dumont in April

De Randamie will take on Norma Dumont in a featherweight bout at UFC Vegas 89 on April 6th, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Dumont was expected to make her featherweight debut this Saturday against Yana Santos, but instead, she'll fight de Randamie in a few months, giving her extra time to prepare. This should also benefit de Rnadamie, who has won three of her last four fights but hasn't stepped on an octagon since 2021.

ANALYSIS

Surprise guillotine gets victory
BantamweightUFC
October 3, 2020
De Randamie defeated Julianna Pena via technical submission (guillotine) at 3:25 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
De Randamie was content to let Pena take the center of the Octagon early while circling the outside and working her jab. It was the right hand -- the same one that put away Aspen Ladd -- that seemed to do the most damage, landing flush on Pena on multiple occasions. More importantly, De Randamie's takedown defense seemed to hold up -- at least until the final seconds when Pena did get her down. Pena opened Round 2 by charging forward with a blitz, and while both women landed in the exchange, the most important aspect was that it set up another takedown for Pena. De Randamie spent the rest of the frame fighting the grappling of Pena and was never able to get back to her feet. She did land a few shots from her back, but the round ultimately went to Pena, who threatened with a choke for the better part of the final two minutes. De Randamie successfully went back to her striking in the early part of Round 3, landing with the jab as well as a few uppercuts. She got backed up against the fence near the midway point, but when Pena finally had the position to commit to a takedown, de Randamie caught her neck on the entry. It looked for a moment like Pena would escape, but when the ref stepped in to check on her, her arm was limp. De Randamie is a kickboxer by trade and has never submitted anyone in her career, which makes this outcome all the more surprising and puts her on track for another top-ranked bantamweight. She'll also take away $50,000 for her efforts as one of four Performance of the Night bonus winners.
Match against Pena in the works
BantamweightUFC
July 26, 2020
De Randamie is expected to take on Julianna Pena in a bantamweight match at the UFC's Oct. 3 event, MMAJunkie.com report.
ANALYSIS
The former UFC women's featherweight champion is coming off a December loss to Amanda Nunes, prior to which she had compiled five consecutive wins. Her next opponent, Pena, recently took a sabbatical from the octagon since last July due to an undisclosed injury, but she now appears back to full health. The expected October fight would only be Pena's second bout since her 2017 hiatus from the UFC after becoming a mother.
