Career ends with KO loss at UFC 222
WelterweightOther
March 3, 2018
Pyle lost to Zak Ottow via TKO (punches) at 2:34 of Round 1 at UFC 222 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It's certainly a frustrating way for Pyle's career to come to a close, but he is one of the most respected and beloved fighters in the history of the sport. Pyle made his professional debut way back in November 1999 against Rampage Jackson. He has fought all of the world against some of the best the sport has to offer. A man with a terrific personality that has an interest in coaching, he may not be fighting anymore, but this isn't the last we will see of Quicksand.

To fight Zak Ottow at UFC 222
WelterweightOther
February 21, 2018
Pyle is set to fight Zak Ottow at UFC 222 on March 3 in Las Vegas, Alexander K. Lee of MMAFighting.com reports. It will be his final fight.
ANALYSIS
Pyle last fought Dec. 30 of 2016 at UFC 207. There, he lost to Alex Garcia by way of first-round knockout. He's struggled lately, coming up just 2-5 over his past seven bouts. Overall, he is 27-13-1 with a 10-8 UFC record. His opponent, Ottow, has gone 2-2 since joining the UFC in Oct. of 2016.
Brutally finished by Alex Garcia at UFC 207 in Vegas
WelterweightOther
December 30, 2016
Pyle lost to Alex Garcia via KO (punch) at 3:34 of Round 1 at UFC 207 on Friday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Pyle has been a quality fighter for a long time, but it's time for him to step aside. He is now 1-4 in his last five fights dating back to August 2014 and he has been brutally knocked out in back-to-back contests. He had no chance to match the speed or power of the younger, quicker Garcia. Pyle has always had a pretty good chin, but that has gone out the window over the past few years as he has aged. Pyle is a smart, likable guy, so hopefully he realizes that it's time to walk away.
Brutally knocked out by Alberto Mino
WelterweightOther
July 7, 2016
Pyle was defeated by Alberto Mina via KO (flying knee) at 1:17 of round two at UFC Fight Night 90 on Thursday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Pyle might be hearing calls for retirement after this one, as the 40-year-old fell to 1-3 in his last three bouts in the UFC with this defeat. He lost the first round on most scorecards, and was unable to get anything going in the second before his chin was met by the knee of Mina. Pyle has been with the UFC since 2009, but his ability to gather wins over top-notch competition appears to be on the decline.
WelterweightOther
February 6, 2016
Pyle defeated Sean Spencer via TKO (strikes) at 4:25 of Round 3 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Who says a 40-year-old fighter has nothing left? There's no doubt that Pyle is slipping athletically, which is no surprise given his age, but he remains a savvy octagon veteran and he always comes into his fights in great shape. Pyle had lost three of his last four coming into Saturday, but he found his second wind as this fight went on and he ultimately earned a huge stoppage victory. It was a gritty effort from a guy who appeared to be just about finished.
Mike Pyle: Drops Decision To Colby Covington Saturday
WelterweightOther
May 23, 2015
Pyle lost to Colby Covington via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 27-30) at UFC 187 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Pyle debuted all the way back in 1999 and this was somehow the first time he has lost back-to-back fight in his entire career! Pyle nearly pulled off a miracle victory when he clamped on a choke with about a minute left after being dominated the entire bout but Covington was able to sneak out of it. Pyle is a tough as they come but he's now 39-years-old and the end is near. He has now lost three of his last four fights.
