Galvao has been removed from the Bellator roster, Guilherme Cruz of MMAfighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Galvao had been struggling in his recent bouts and the move comes as little surprise given his expiring contract. At 36 years old, Galvao's worth seemed to be declining. He'll leave Bellator with a career 18-9-1 record.

Struggles in striking battle at Bellator 175
BantamweightBellator
March 31, 2017
Galvao lost to Emmanuel Sanchez via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) at Bellator 175 on Friday in Chicago.
ANALYSIS
Galvao does not really get the credit he deserves for being a pioneer of the lighter weight divisions. He was a top fighter in Shooto and the early Zuffa-era WEC. He then moved to Bellator where he became an unlikely champion. With that being said, he has never been a good enough striker to win fights on the feet. He moved up to featherweight for this fight, and he simply could not drag Sanchez to the ground. Galvao was game on the feet, but he could not pull ahead and win rounds. He falls to 18-8-1 as a professional.
Hangs on for decision victory
BantamweightBellator
December 2, 2016
Galvao defeated L.C. Davis via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) at Bellator 166 on Friday in Thackerville, Okla.
ANALYSIS
Galvao clearly wanted to get to the clinch and work for takedowns. Davis defended well early, but Galvao kept coming forward. On the ground, the former champion was not really able to get any offense going, but he was able to dominate via position. Towards the end of the second round, Davis started to open up with his striking. However, this only allowed Galvao to time his combinations and regain the clinch. In the final round, Davis was clearly the fresher fighter. He continued to come forward with strikes. He simply was not accurate enough to land anything to change the course of the fight. This was Galvao's first fight back since dropping the bantamweight title against Eduardo Dantas.

Galvao has withdrawn from his scheduled title defense against Eduardo Dantas due to illness, ESPN's Brett Okamoto reports.
ANALYSIS
Galvao's only loss since 2012 has been to Dantas, so it's understandable that he wouldn't want to face him at less than 100 percent. This bout was scheduled to serve as the main event, but the promotion announced that a heavyweight bout between Cheick Kongo and Vinicius Queiroz will take its place. As it currently stands, Bellator plans to rebook the fight at a later date.
