FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Playoff Value Plays

FanDuel NHL: Wednesday Playoff Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NHL series.

Now that you've paid your taxes, you can focus all your attention on playoff hockey. There are four games Wednesday. Here are my recommendations for your daily fantasy lineup.

GOALIE

Martin Jones, SAN vs. ANA ($8,800): Seven of the teams in action Wednesday have had off-games from their goalies, and then there are the Sharks. Jones has a 1.00 GAA and .970 save percentage in three starts, all wins. On top of that, the Ducks only scored 2.56 goals per game on the road this season.

CENTER

Brayden Point, TAM at NJD ($6,400): Point tallied 32 goals and 34 assists this season, and he has three points in the playoffs as well. Cory Schneider played well for the Devils in his first start of the playoffs in Game 3, but that is not in line with his performance during the regular season. This year he posted a 2.93 GAA and .907 save percentage.

Ryan Johansen, NAS at COL ($6,300): Johansen has a five-game point streak, and in his last 12 games he has 12 points. Five of those points have come with the extra man, as well. Though the Avalanche picked up in the win in Game 3, they still allowed three goals. In fact, over his last seven starts, Jonathan Bernief has a 3.33 GAA and .900 save percentage.

WING

Kyle Palmieri, NJD vs. TAM ($5,600): Palmieri only has one point in the playoffs, but he's put nine shots on net. During the regular season, the winger averaged 2:47 per game with the extra man and tallied 23 power-play points in only 62 games. That success bodes well in this matchup. The Lightning had the 27th-ranked penalty kill this year.

Jake Guentzel, PIT at PHI ($5,600): In the two games that the Flyers have struggled defensively, Guentzel has been there to take advantage. He's notched five points in the playoffs after registering 48 during the regular season. He also picked up 12 points with the extra man, including seven goals. The Flyers had the 29th-ranked penalty kill this year, and the goaltending has been shaky in the playoffs. Brian Elliott has allowed five goals twice in three games.

Kevin Labanc, SAN vs. ANA ($3,900): Labanc started 55.5 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, second highest among healthy Sharks forwards. The 22-year-old has a point in each of his last two games, both of which have come on the power play. Labanc had 17 power-play points this season, and his time with the extra man has increased notably recently. Over his last 15 games he's averaged 3:24 per game in power-play time.

DEFENSEMEN

Shayne Gostisbehere, PHI vs. PIT ($6,300): Gostisbehere only has one point in this series, but he's put 10 shots on net. Plus, he notched 65 points this year including 33 with the extra man, so it's not like we have to worry about his scoring acumen. The Penguins had a 3.02 GAA this season, highest of any playoff team. On the road, that number rose to 3.37.

Will Butcher, NJD vs. TAM ($4,200): Butcher started 62.4 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Devils. He also did a fair amount of damage on the power play, notching 23 points with the extra man. The defenseman already has two power-play points in the postseason to boot. As previously noted, the Lightning had the 27th-ranked penalty kill this year.
