DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

DraftKings NHL: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings NHL series.

GOALIE

Anton Khudobin, BOS at BUF ($7,900): Even with the Bruins playing their second game in consecutive nights, this is still a solid setup for Khudobin. Buffalo has scored just 2.13 goals per contest and generated only 8.42 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes through eight December games. The Russian netminder is also ripe for a rebound showing after allowing 11 goals through his previous three starts.

CENTER

Ryan Getzlaf, ANA at NYR ($5,500): After Getzlaf missed 19 games with a broken zygomatic bone in his check, his salary has dipped down into profit territory. Even with a nightmare start for Anaheim and its captain, the veteran has still posted 10 points through 10 contests and is back to logging significant minutes (20:23 per outing during an active three-game point streak). The Rangers have also allowed the second most high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes in the league, so expect Getzlaf to have opportunities.

Jonathan Drouin, MON at VAN ($5,300): Projected to skate with Max Pacioretty and Paul Byron on an intriguing line at even strength, Drouin is positioned to snap his current three-game point drought since returning from the flu. Additionally, with Vancouver allowing 3.75 goals and 12.38 high-danger scoring chances per 60 minutes through eight December contests, Drouin's affordable salary becomes all the more attractive.

WING

Jonathan Huberdeau, FLA at ARI ($6,900): Even with an active three-game point drought, Huberdeau still owns a high-end 2.87 points per 60 minutes while averaging 2.73 shots per contest. The Coyotes continue to be a defensive doormat with a league-high 13.45 high-danger scoring chances allowed per 60 minutes and a healthy 3.0 goals per game in December.

Rickard Rakell, ANA at NYR ($5,200): The Swede pairs with Ryan Getzlaf as an excellent mid-priced stack to consider for their previously noted soft matchup against New York. Rakell has quietly recorded a respectable 2.2 points per 60 minutes, and there is likely positive regression ahead of his current 8.9 shooting percentage. Additionally, he did combine with Getzlaf for 3.41 goals per 60 minutes last season, so there is long-standing chemistry.

Andreas Athanasiou, DET at NYI ($3,800): There is oodles to like about Athanasiou's game, and he's currently projected to skate with Dylan Larkin and Tomas Tatar. With a top-six role and power-play looks, this price could prove to be a steal. However, even with the Islanders allowing the second most goals per 60 minutes (3.38) in the league, Athanasiou has recorded just two helpers through his past 11 outings. So, the speedster should be viewed as more of a contrarian source of cap relief than lineup lock.

DEFENSE

Jared Spurgeon, MIN at OTT ($4,700): The 28-year-old defenseman logged 23:20 of ice time Sunday after missing nine games with the groin injury. He proved his health and has slotted back into a top-pairing role with power-play time on the No. 1 unit, so Spurgeon checks out as a solid value target. After all, Ottawa enters with a 3-10-2 record while allowing -- goals per 60 minutes and sporting an .895 team save percentage through its past 15 games.

Jacob Trouba, WPG at NAS ($4,600): The Jet showcased his upside with two assists and five shots through 23:39 of ice time (3:21 on the power play) against the Blues on Sunday, and he now lands in another tough matchup versus the Predators. With a huge role and tremendous offensive potential, Trouba is a strong lean at this price, regardless of the opponent.
