Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

Yahoo DFS Hockey: Tuesday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Hockey series.

Tuesday's limited three-game slate means daily fantasy players will need to find the best values in order to find themselves on top at day's end. Here are some ideas…

Goalie

Jake Allen, STL vs. EDM ($32)

Until the Oilers' offense can figure out how to score consistently on the road, where they're averaging a league-low 1.89 goals per game, starting goalies against them will continue to be a sound daily fantasy play. This holds especially true for Allen, who shows a solid .920 save percentage on home ice this season. His middle-of-the-road pricing makes him especially appealing Tuesday.

Goalie to Avoid

Charlie Lindgren, MON @ DAL ($34)

Lindgren was great early on while starting for the injured Carey Price (lower body) but has very much come down to Earth of late, as he is currently riding a three-game losing streak that has seen him allow 12 goals. The Stars have had their own struggles this season, but they have been much better in Dallas than anywhere else and have scored five goals or more in each of their last three home games.

Center

Bo Horvat, VAN @ PHI ($18)

The Vancouver offense has more or less run through Horvat this season, as the 22-year-old leads the team with eight goals and is second in points with a solid 16. The center is riding a three-game point streak, so look for him to excel against either of Philadelphia's mediocre goalies.

Center to Avoid

Leon Draisaitl, EDM @ STL ($22)

Draisaitl has just two points and a minus-1 rating in his last five games, but perhaps more concerning is the fact that the 22-year-old has launched just nine shots on goal over that span and managed both of his points in one game. That sort of inconsistency makes it difficult to trust him on the road against a Blues defense that has been as reliable as any in the league.

Wing

Brock Boeser, VAN @ PHI ($17)

The other staple of the Vancouver offense this year has been Boeser, who holds the team lead in assists and points, just ahead of his linemate Horvat in both categories. The pair is rolling on offense right now, both at even strength and on the power play, and make for an attractive stack against a middling Philadelphia team Tuesday.

Alex Galchenyuk, MON @ DAL ($15)

Galchenyuk has just two points and a minus-3 in his last five games, but it's encouraging to see him take 19 shots on goal over that period and establish himself with the first power-play unit. Edmonton's goalie play has been weak this season, as the 3.15 team GAA will attest, making Galchenyuk a cheap and even more enticing option Tuesday.

Wings to Avoid

Wayne Simmonds, PHI vs. VAN ($21)

The struggle continues for Simmonds, as the veteran winger posted a minus-3 rating, put just seven shots on goal, and was held to one point in the last five contests, bringing his season total to a measly 12. As the Flyers continue to struggle, the Ontario native's Tuesday price is a bit much considering his recent performance, especially against a decent Vancouver defensive front.

Brendan Gallagher, MON @ DAL ($18)

Gallagher went on a nice run of offense at the end of October and beginning of November, but overall this season, he hasn't commanded enough of a regular role at even strength to justify his current price. It's shown recently too, as the 25-year-old has just one point and a minus-1 rating in his last five contests. You can do better at this price (or lower) elsewhere Tuesday.

Defense

Colton Parayko, STL vs. EDM ($19)

As a consistent presence on the power play, as well as at even strength, Parayko is providing the sort of offensive firepower we've come to expect out of this St. Louis defensive corps over the past few years. The Alberta native is on a three-game point streak and has fired 16 shots on goal from the blue line over the past five contests. He's a serious scoring threat against a mediocre Edmonton defense and goalie.

Esa Lindell, DAL vs. MON ($15)

Lindell has established himself as a reliable member of Dallas' power play and is also showing decent defensive prowess to boot -- the 24-year-old has a plus-5 rating on the year. The Finn has also been much more effective in Dallas this season, posting six points and a plus-12 rating on home ice.

Defensemen to Avoid

Oscar Klefbom, EDM @ STL ($20)

Speaking of Edmonton's poor defense, Klefbom has been the face of it, sporting a minus-9 rating with just seven points over the course of the campaign. With a minus-4 mark and three points in the last five contests, the 24-year-old defenseman isn't quite trending in the right direction and could be in for a long night against a Blues team that has been excellent in almost every facet thus far.

Ivan Provorov, PHI vs. VAN ($18)

As the Flyers' play has struggled this season, so too has Provorov's, as the Russian defenseman has found the scoresheet just twice in the last eight games and posted a minus-2 rating over that span as well. The 20-year-old's price is a bit too steep Tuesday to risk him putting up another dud against a Vancouver team that has effectively trapped better teams than Philadelphia.
