Players to Watch in Week 2: Santana Moss, James Starks and Brandon Pettigrew

Unfortunately, my Week 1 picks did not start the season off as hot as my own fantasy team did (thank you Aaron Rodgers and Ray Rice btw). By my personal scoring standards I finished opening weekend with a not-so-scintillating 12-20 record (at least 8 points for RB/WR/TE, 15 for QB in standard scoring for a W), good for just shy of .400 to begin the year. But hey, anyone can get Week 1 jitters. Just ask the Chiefs, Falcons and Steelers.

Starts that I did hit on-Matthew Stafford, Mike Tolbert, Tim Hightower, Aaron Hernandez-really can't be considered fringe starters going forward. If you have them you should be rolling them out unless they face a horrible matchup. Guys I whiffed on badly-Jordan Shipley, Antonio Brown, Brandon Jacobs-will almost certainly be back in this column at some point (spoiler alert).

As for Week 2, my favorite picks to cash in on are Santana Moss, James Starks and Brandon Pettigrew. So now that I've shaken off my jitters, let's jump into the matchups that will give me a bounce back week and - just like the Lions will against the Chiefs - let the domination N. Suh.

Sunday 9/18/11

Kansas City @ Detroit

Dexter McCluster (RB/WR) for Chiefs - The Chiefs' offense didn't exactly look so hot in Week 1, but they could use McCluster's playmaking (four carries, 42 yards against Buffalo) to spark a turnaround against a stingy Lions' defense.

Brandon Pettigrew (TE) for Lions - The Chiefs' defense was just owned by Scott Chandler (six catches, 62 yards, two touchdowns), a tight end with one career catch prior to playing KC. Let's see how they handle a first-round, physical specimen with a red-hot Matt Stafford slicing up their secondary.

Oakland @ Buffalo

Ryan Fitzpatrick (QB) for Bills - West coast teams traveling east for an early game are generally sluggish. And that's putting it nicely. Who else wants to see how much Fitzpatrick owns the AFC West this year?

David Nelson (WR) for Bills - Though he may not be listed as such, Nelson certainly played like the No. 2 receiver in Buffalo. If Fitzpatrick's hot start continues, Nelson will be worth a start on your team. With his size (6-5, 215) he should be a top target for the Bills as a possession receiver and red zone threat.

Tampa Bay @ Minnesota

Earnest Graham (RB) for Buccaneers - Graham was featured a surprising amount in Week 1 (six carries, eight catches), and there's no reason to think that won't continue. He's an excellent receiver out of the backfield and against a Vikings defense minus Kevin Williams, he could be more effective on the ground.

Percy Harvin (WR) for Vikings - The Vikings offense was downright embarrassing last week, posting a pitiful 187 total yards, mostly on the ground. Expect Donovan McNabb to look Harvin's way frequently this week in an effort to pump up the passing attack.

Chicago @ New Orleans

Mark Ingram (RB) for Saints - Okay, so Ingram didn't exactly set the world on fire with his debut against Green Bay (13 carries, 40 yards, stuffed at the goal-line), but he does appear poised to be the feature back in the Bayou. He will have big games in that role and the Bears could see the first.

Robert Meachem (WR) for Saints - No Marques Colston makes Meachem a must start. He looked good in Week 1 and plays in too prolific an offense to not take a chance on him.

Baltimore @ Tennessee

Ricky Williams (RB) for Ravens - Old man Ricky had 13 touches for 67 total yards against the Steelers in a blowout. This is me betting he gets as many or more in a similar whooping of the Titans, perhaps this time with a late-game score.

Nate Washington (WR) for Titans - Washington tied for the team lead in catches last week (six for 67 yards), and if the Ravens put Tennessee in an early hole, he could have an even busier day with Matt Hasselbeck throwing a ton.

Cleveland @ Indianapolis

Ben Watson (TE) for Browns - Watson is one of Colt McCoy's favorite targets and the most reliable receiver on the Browns' roster. Look for him to make noise in the red zone against a defense that may struggle to keep Cleveland and Peyton Hillis off the field.

Joseph Addai (RB) for Colts - If the inexperienced Bengals can out-duel the Browns, who's to say that Kerry Collins can't do likewise for Indy? Without the pressure of a big deficit, the Colts should look to get their ground game going, which could equal a heavy workload for Addai.

Jacksonville @ New York Jets

LaDainian Tomlinson (RB) for Jets - The future hall of famer hasn't lost it yet. He's arguably the best third-down back in the league and may still be the best runner on his team. Tomlinson will fill the Danny Woodhead role for the Jets and it will keep him fresh and active most of the year.

Mark Sanchez (QB) for Jets - Sanchez and Shonn Greene have made the Jets a pass-first team. Good weapons all over the field and Greene's inability to run effectively spell a lot of big games in Sanchez's future.

Seattle @ Pittsburgh

Antonio Brown (WR) for Steelers - Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice… that sucks. Not sure that's the exact saying but I'll gamble twice won't be happening. Brown saw nine targets last week but only hauled in two because of a Ravens defense that was everywhere. The Seahawks, after flying into Pittsburgh for a 1PM start time, might as well stay on the bus.

Hines Ward (WR) for Steelers - Ward also saw nine targets against Baltimore and with a Steelers offense out to redeem themselves, this game could give Ward flashbacks to Super Bowl XL.

Arizona @ Washington

Early Doucet (WR) for Cardinals - It appears Arizona has found another playmaker for Kevin Kolb to look to when Larry Fitzgerald draws double coverage-which is, well, all the time. Expect another pass-fest in the nation's capital and good opportunities for Doucet.

Santana Moss (WR) for Redskins - Steve Smith's stats from Week 1: eight catches, 178 yards, two TD's. Considering his quarterback was in his first start and is considered a suspect passer, I'd say starting any No. 1 receiver against the Cardinals secondary is a good idea.

Green Bay @ Carolina

James Starks (RB) for Packers - Timeshare or not, Starks should continue to post better stats than Ryan Grant. He's simply the more dynamic runner and he hits the hole with more aggression. In what figures to be a blowout of the Panthers, Starks should be in line for plenty of work.

Greg Olsen (TE) for Panthers - The Packers will be the true litmus test for whether or not Cam Newton is for real. And since he'll almost certainly be playing catch-up to Aaron Rodgers and Co., Olsen is likely to see a lot of balls coming his way.

Dallas @ San Francisco

Alex Smith (QB) for 49ers - An already thin and unspectacular Dallas secondary saw Orlando Scandrick added to the injury report last Sunday and the unit is still without Terrance Newman. Mark Sanchez tore them up through the air, and now its Smith's turn to play from behind and throw 40+ balls.

Braylon Edwards (WR) for 49ers - One of the main benefactors of a pass-heavy week, look for Edwards to bounce back from a disappointing performance against Seattle.

San Diego @ New England

Deion Branch (WR) for Patriots - Take the two best offenses in the AFC, a future HOF'er fresh off a historic performance and you get this thing called a shootout. Branch had nine targets and nearly 100 yards in the Pats' unstoppable no-huddle. Assuming Brady doesn't go as nuts, let's say 80 and a score would be nice.

Danny Woodhead (RB) for Patriots - Woodhead is the back of choice when the Patriots go no huddle, which in a high-scoring affair with San Diego, should be often. Expect his involvement in the pass game to go up and his yards to keep coming.

Houston @ Miami

Jacoby Jones (WR) for Texans - After watching Tom Brady light up the Miami secondary, it's hard to imagine the Texans not topping their 24 Week 1 attempts. With Kevin Walter (shoulder) banged up, Jones will see plenty of snaps as the No. 2 opposite Andre Johnson. Can you say "single coverage"?

Chad Henne (QB) for Dolphins - Shootout the sequel, starring Chad Henne.

Cincinnati @ Denver

Jermaine Gresham (TE) for Bengals - Gresham appears to be a perfect target for whoever is under center for Cincinnati. His size and athleticism creates a mismatch whether he's going up the seam or stepping out wide. Don't be surprised when he climbs into the top tier tight end discussion soon.

Eric Decker (WR) for Broncos - Even if Brandon Lloyd wasn't nursing a groin injury, Decker has shown the ability to be a go-to target for Kyle Orton and his role in the offense should start to grow beginning this week.

Philadelphia @ Atlanta

Jason Avant (WR) for Eagles - With Jeremy Maclin not yet up to top speed, Avant saw seven targets in Week 1. In a statement game that could see a high point total, the Eagles may be forced to throw even more against Atlanta, meaning another busy day for Avant.

Jason Snelling (RB) for Falcons - Don't be alarmed by Snelling's mere two carries in Week 1. The Falcons played all day from behind and threw a ton. The Eagles, with their young linebacking corps, appeared vulnerable to the run (154 yards, 5.9 per carry allowed), so Atlanta's backfield could be in for a big week.

Monday 9/19/11

St. Louis @ New York Giants

Carnell Williams (RB) for Rams - If Steven Jackson (quadriceps) can't go, look for a heavy dose of Caddy. The versatile vet should see plenty of action on the ground and through the air, and against a severely banged up Giants defense, he could be in for a big night.

Eli Manning (QB) for Giants - The start of 2011 has not been a good one for the Manning's. And though Peyton can't do anything about his awful Colts, lil' bro may still have something to say about the G-Men's grim-looking prospects. As long as Hakeem Nicks suits up, expect a big improvement in his performance.
