2023 Fantasy Outlook
Heyward tallied double-digit sacks for a second consecutive season last year, topping 70 tackles in three of the last four years. Entering his 13th season, the 34-year-old Heyward has played at least 15 games every season but one. While Father Time will presumably catch up at some point, Heyward has remained productive, especially when offensive lines also have to account for T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Should be 100 percent by camp
Coach Mike Tomlin said Monday that he expects Heyward (groin) to be a full participant by the start of training camp, Nick Farabaugh of Steelers Now reports.
ANALYSIS
Heyward currently is recovering from a cleanup procedure undergone to address a groin/core injury, but Tomlin said he's "not anticipating it to be a factor by the time we get to training camp." The veteran defensive end managed to finish 2023 with 33 tackles (25 solo), two sacks and one pass breakup in 11 games, despite playing through a core-muscle injury for much of the season, so he could bounce back this year if he's simply healthier. Heyward tallied a combined 20.5 sacks across his previous two seasons.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Officially activated for Week 9
Heyward, who's been on injured reserve since Week 1 due to a groin injury, has been activated to the 53-man roster and will play in Thursday night's game against the Titans, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Heyward doesn't even carry an injury designation for the contest, leaving no doubt as to his availability. The veteran lineman originally had an eight-week return timetable, but by returning Thursday, he's slightly ahead of schedule after seeing his 21-day practice window open Oct. 26.

Heyward was a good player in his first six seasons with Pittsburgh, but for some reason a switch
flipped in 2017 and since then he’s been exceptional. After producing 25 sacks his first six
seasons, Heyward has 43 in the last five. Not just that, but twice in the last three years he’s
surpassed 80 tackles. Decline can’t be far off now that he’s 33 years old, but Heyward remains
a justifiable DL1 in most formats.
