Vikes want him back
SMinnesota Vikings
March 9, 2020
The Vikings plan to re-sign Sendejo this offseason, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
ANALYSIS
The 32-year-old safety is a much cheaper alternative to fellow free agent Anthony Harris, who will earn a large payday wherever he goes. If Harris moves on from Minnesota, Sendejo would likely slot into his spot as a starter.

Coming off a lost year that saw him play only five games due to a groin injury, Sendejo should be a nice fill-in if Rodney McLeod's recovery from torn knee ligaments extends into the regular season. Sendejo was on pace to blow past his career high of 84 tackles prior to getting hurt in 2018, but given his age (32 in September) and the crowded Eagles secondary, he's best viewed as insurance in the safety ranks.
Sendejo seems to be taking advantage of his role within a star-studded Vikings secondary that otherwise includes two 2017 first-team All-Pros in free safety Harrison Smith and cornerback Xavier Rhodes. As the Vikings' clear starting strong safety in 2017, the undrafted Rice product was on pace for 98 tackles and 8.6 pass breakups had he played all 16 games. Such production makes him one to keep an eye on in IDP circles ahead of the 2018 season, and he should come at a discount given his lack of brand-name appeal.
Sendejo, who amassed 69 tackles, four passes defensed and two interceptions in 2016 before a knee injury cut his campaign just short, is slated to once again start at strong safety next to Harrison Smith. Sendejo underwent surgery to repair the knee issue during the offseason, but he should be back in time for training camp.
Sendejo is the leading candidate to retain his starting safety job next to Smith, but he faces competition from Michael Griffin, Antone Exum, Anthony Harris and Jayron Kearse. He's a solid tackler, but has struggled at times in coverage.
Sendejo took over as the starter last December after Robert Blanton started 13 games, but he's not guaranteed a starting role again. He will compete with Blanton, Tayor Mays, Antone Exum and Anthony Harris for a starting safety role next to Harrison Smith this summer.
Sendejo has mostly been a special teams player in his career, but he finally got playing time in the secondary last season after the injury to Harrison Smith and made a decent impression when in the starting lineup. He'll likely win a top reserve role as a result.
Will serve as a backup at safety and contribute on special teams.
Sendejo went undrafted at Rice and then played in the UFL and bounced around two NFL practice squads. With Minnesota's wide open competition at safety, he could actually win a significant role.
