Active for game against Saints
CBLos Angeles Rams
November 4, 2018
Shields (illness) is active for Sunday's game versus the Saints, Rich Hammond of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
Shields hasn't played more than 26 defensive snaps in any of the last four weeks, making four tackles and breaking up a pass in that span. It's likely the trend continues with Nickell Robey-Coleman and Marcus Peters taking a majority of the snaps at corner.

Shields last suited up when he played one game in the 2016 season, as he's been battling concussion symptoms ever since. The 30-year-old was a shutdown corner during his seven seasons in Green Bay, posting 18 interceptions. Shields will face a two-week suspension once he's healthy, and it's tough to project him as an IDP asset after two seasons of stagnantation.
Shields is the top dog in Green Bay's cornerback corps, but is yet to make it through a full 16-game season. He still notched 39 tackles, 13 passes defensed and two picks in 2015, though, which are nearly identical to the year before. Similar numbers can be fairly expected in 2016, but Shields simply doesn't carry the sort of upside to make him a viable fantasy option in 2016.
Shields will open the 2015 season as the Packer’s clear primary corner after the team lost veteran Tramon Williams this offseason. Shields has decent size for a corner and has the foot speed and athleticism to cover most number 1 receivers. While he only tallied 2 interceptions last year, he will have a good chance to exceed that number this season with more targets his way and increased responsibility in the defensive backfield.
Shields signed a four-year deal to remain with the Packers this offseason, and he is set to be the team's top cover guy for the foreseeable future. He tallied four interceptions and 17 pass defenses in just 14 games last season.
Shields will get a chance to compete for the starting cornerback job opposite Tramon Williams. Even if he does not grab the role, he should play extensively in multiple defensive back formations.
Shields will compete for the starting cornerback spot opposite Tramon Williams, but most likely will be a reserve corner and will see time only in the nickel and dime packages and on special teams.
Shields will work as the third CB.
