ANALYSIS
Barwin floated out the idea of re-signing with the Eagles this offseason, but an offer never came to fruition. Across 132 career games, the edge rusher recorded 368 tackles (272 solo), 56.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles in stints with the Texans, Eagles, Rams and Giants.

Barwin figures to be a pass-rushing specialist of sorts, generating pressure on opposing quarterbacks. At age 31, Barwin is a long shot to see a high snap count, so don't expect a ton of tackles from the outside linebacker.
Barwin has started 16 games in each of the past six seasons and recorded double-digit sacks twice during that span. He projects to open the season as the starting strong-side linebacker and tandem with weak-side starter Robert Quinn to generate a formidable edge rush in Wade Phillips' new 3-4 defensive scheme. Barwin is just a season removed from a 64-tackle, 14.5 sack campaign, too. A rebound in IDP settings is within reach for the 30-year-old veteran.
Barwin's positional classification warrants double-checking, but so long as he's a defensive lineman in your league, he should be a standout asset in IDP leagues. Philadelphia's switch from the 3-4 to the 4-3 forces Barwin from outside linebacker to defensive end, which does wonders for his IDP value. Just two years removed from a 64-tackle, 14.5-sack season, Barwin enters a favorable situation with the dominant Fletcher Cox likely drawing double-teams at defensive tackle, making Barwin a candidate for double-digit sacks in his first year at end in the NFL.
Barwin had a breakout year in 2014. He set a career high with 14.5 sacks and two forced fumbles, dominating the NFC East and earning his first career Pro Bowl appearance. This season Barwin will be back starting at outside linebacker for the Birds, fighting against offensive lines and blocking schemes that now know better than to overlook him. A slight drop-off might be inevitable, but Barwin will be expected to keep producing at a high level.
Barwin will start at outside linebacker as he heads into his second year with the Eagles.
Barwin will start at outside linebacker in Philadelphia's 3-4 after leaving Houston in free agency. Although he had just three sacks in 2012, Barwin is very athletic and should improve since he has only played defense since his final year of college. He's not likely to be an IDP option, however.
The Texans felt comfortable letting Mario Williams walk because they have some young pass rushers, like Barwin, ready to bust out. His 11.5 sacks led the Houston defense in 2011, and there are rushing weapons from each side of the defense, making it hard for teams to key on Barwin. A nice IDP candidate here.
Barwin is making the move from defensive end to outside linebacker in the 3-4 unit introduced by new defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, who is looking for Barwin to start. The third-year player out of Cincinnati comes with a reputation as a pass rusher, so there's some IDP value potential.
Barwin will be involved in the Texans' pass-rush defense at the very least. There's a chance he could pick up a few sacks as a result.
Barwin was converted to defensive end as a senior in college and will continue on that path in the pros. The Texans will get him in the end rotation, with particular involvement in pass-rush situations.
