Avant finished the 2015 season with just 15 catches for 119 yards on 24 targets.
ANALYSIS
The veteran wideout struggled to find the field consistently, and averaged less than a grab per game as a result. He signed a one-year contract with the Chiefs before the 2015 campaign, and could be a candidate for retirement in the offseason if he can't find work elsewhere.

Avant began the 2014 season as a member of the Carolina Panthers but was released following comments he made after a loss to the Falcons in Week 11. He was subsequently snatched up by the Chiefs, and his familiarity with Andy Reid’s offense allowed him to make an instant impact. Over the final five games with the team, the veteran wideout accumulated 152 receiving yards on 13 catches. Due to the offseason additions of Jeremy Maclin and Chris Conley, Avant will likely contend with Conley and Albert Wilson for snaps on Sundays, but his outlook heading into 2015 isn’t as bright as it was in his brief finish with the team last season.
Avant's 2013 season was strangely quiet despite the prodigious output of the Eagles' offense in Chip Kelly's first season at the helm, and he headed to Carolina in the offseason looking for a chance at a starting gig. The Panthers' depth chart at WR is unsettled, but Avant's lack of top-shelf size or speed could limit him to a no. 3 role even against lackluster competition like Jerricho Cotchery and Tiquan Underwood.
What's been the case with Avant his whole career remained the same in 2012: He can serve as an effective short-route option, but he has very little big-play ability. He remarkably has just 10 touchdowns on 259 career receptions and as Philadelphia's third receiver at best in 2013, he's unlikely to make a fantasy impact in most cases.
Avant was efficient as the team’s No. 3 receiver last year, averaging 8.4 YPT and 13.1 YPC in a possession role. At 6-0, 212, he’s strong, stoutly built and more able to take a shot over the middle of the field than the faster, more dynamic Jeremy Maclin/DeSean Jackson combo. He’s got good hands, and he’s a solid route-runner, but he’s not fast and will not provide anything down the field – zero catches of 40-yards or more in the last two years. He’s a better option in PPR leagues, and even then it would be nice if the Eagles looked his way more in the red zone (eight targets).
DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin are the team's stars, but Avant emerged as the clear No. 3 last year with 73 targets, 51 catches and 7.7 YPT. At 6-0, 209, Avant has more strength and bulk than his explosive teammates and is able to make tough catches in the middle of the field. Avant has good hands (3 drops) and knows how to find space on shorter routes. In short, he's a reliable chain mover and could be asked to take on a bigger role in the Eagles' pass-happy offense should anything happen to one of the starters.
Avant will be the team's No. 3 wide receiver. He'll be playing in a productive system in a pass-happy scheme, but Avant is no better than the fourth or fifth option in Philadelphia's offense.
Avant will battle to be the team's No. 4 or No. 5 wide receiver, as the team has plenty of depth at the position. He's unlikely to make much of an impact with so few targets.
Will fight for third or fourth receiver role in training camp. Could be cut.
Avant, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2006 draft, was virtually nonexistent during his rookie season - catching just seven balls all season long. He enters 2007 as the fifth wide receiver in Philadelphia.
Rookie receiver who will likely just provide depth to the receiving corps.
