Elevated for Saturday
TEArizona Cardinals
December 25, 2020
DeValve was promoted to Arizona's active roster from the practice squad Friday, Kevin Zimmerman of ArizonaSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 27-year-old joined the Cardinals' practice squad in late November and was elevated to the active roster two times in the interim. DeValve went without a target in those appearances, but he could be more involved Saturday with Dan Arnold (back), Maxx Williams (ankle) and Darrell Daniels (hamstring) all questionable.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2019
2018
2017
DeValve's production took a step back in 2018, going from 33 receptions to just five. His blocking ability remains an issue, which is why Darren Fells served as the primary backup tight end behind David Njoku. Fells has since moved on to Houston, so DeValve will now have to battle Demetrius Harris for field time.
DeValve took a huge leap forward during his second NFL season in 2017, accumulating 33 catches for 395 yards and a touchdown. His blocking was also considerably better, as well. However, after splitting snaps with David Njoku last season, Njoku projects to take on the full-time starting role, which will considerably cut down DeValve's playing time and contributions. He'll most likely battle newly-acquired Darren Fells for the backup role.
DeValve performed admirably during his rookie season as a reserve tight end, recording 10 receptions for 127 yards and two touchdowns in 12 contests. The Browns underwent plenty of turnover at tight end during the offseason, parting ways with starter Gary Barnidge and drafting David Njoku. DeValve remains toward the bottom of the depth chart heading into training camp, but his experience from last season could separate him from the back end of the pack and secure him a spot on the 53-man roster.
