FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Sunday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

PITCHER

Kevin Gausman, BAL at TAM ($8,600): It's difficult to predict a pitcher's workload on the season's final day, especially with nothing at stake. With that in mind, Gausman had a 3.86 ERA in September, and dating back to Aug. 26, he has allowed one run or less in four of six starts. He hasn't allowed a run to the Rays in two starts, striking out 17 and allowing only seven hits over 13 innings.

CATCHER

Travis d'Arnaud, NYM at PHI($2,900): d'Arnaud posted a .408 wOBA and .359 ISO in September, including .448 and .417 against righties, respectively. He'll face a struggling Nick Pivetta, who has a 7.57 second-half ERA and allows a .433 wOBA to righties at home.

FIRST BASE

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI at KAN ($4,000): Goldschmidt will look to break out of an 0-for-14 slump Sunday. While that may not immediately inspire confidence, I like the stability he can provide to a slate where lineups could be a little more diverse. He has a .413 wOBA, 150 wRC+ and .285 ISO against lefties entering a matchup with Jason Vargas and his 5.97 second-half ERA.

SECOND BASE

Ozzie Albies, ATL at MIA ($4,100): Albies has swung well down the stretch, posting a .368 wOBA and 126 wRC+ over the last two weeks. He's shown a little power in that stretch, going deep twice in his last six contests, giving him a little more upside than you may initially think entering a matchup with Jose Urena, who has allowed 10 earned runs in this last three starts.

THIRD BASE

Maikel Franco, PHI vs. NYM ($2,900): Franco has a decent .340 wOBA and .238 ISO in September, and he's gone deep in three of his last four outings. He is a nice discount buy-in against a Mets bullpen that has thrown 15 innings over the past two days, and will be called upon to work the entire game Sunday after Noah Syndergaard departs after 25 pitches.

SHORTSTOP

Zack Cozart, CIN at CHC ($3,700): Cozart has feasted on lefties this season, posting a .447 wOBA, 178 wRC+ and .302 against them. That should play well against Mike Montgomery, who is making a spot start for Jake Arrieta, who has a 3.88 home ERA, nearly a full run higher than his away split.

OUTFIELD

Giancarlo Stanton, MIA vs. ATL ($4,500): There are very few guarantees on the last day of the season, but with Stanton hunting a 60-home run season, he'll bat leadoff in an effort to get more at bats. He has a .519 wOBA, 228 wRC+, .508 ISO and 1.336 OPS against lefties at home, and while Braves starter Max Fried has heavy ground ball tendencies, he allows a 27.3 homer to fly ball rate to righties.

Avisail Garcia, CWS at CLE ($3,900): Garcia has hit safely in eight straight and in nine of his last 10, scoring seven runs in his last seven games. He hasn't driven in many runs, but that figures to be something he'll have more opportunity to do against the Indians' Josh Tomlin and his 5.11 ERA.

Kyle Schwarber, CHC vs. CIN ($3,300): Schwarber hit .300 against righties in September, posting a .403 wOBA and 149 wRC+ in the process. He's hit safely in five of his last six and gets the Reds' Deck McGuire, who allows a .394 wOBA to lefties on the road.
