Logs first steal
OFSt. Louis Cardinals
April 21, 2024
Siani went 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 2-0 loss to the Brewers.
ANALYSIS
Siani is gaining regular playing time in center field, and that should continue with Victor Scott being optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday. Siani has three hits and two walks over his last two contests, but he hadn't shown much with the bat before that. The outfielder is batting .200 with a triple, no RBI, seven runs scored and a 3:6 BB:K over 27 plate appearances this season. Siani is likely a placeholder in center field until one of Dylan Carlson (shoulder) or Tommy Edman (wrist) is cleared to play.

Potential chance to start?
OFSt. Louis Cardinals
March 26, 2024
Starting center fielder Dylan Carlson suffered a shoulder injury Monday, per Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which could open up starts for Siani early in the season.
ANALYSIS
Carlson was only penciled in as the starter since Tommy Edman is beginning the season on the injured list with a wrist issue, and Siani ended up earning a spot on the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder. Siani has just 17 big-league games under his belt and never enjoyed notable offensive success in the minors, so the Cardinals may be more likely to turn to prospect Victor Scott. Even if Siani isn't a lineup regular, more opportunities will still likely be in store if Carlson misses time, especially since Lars Nootbaar is also out with a rib injury.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
It took $2 million to get Siani to rescind his commitment to Virginia, almost four times the recommended slot value of the 109th overall pick in last year's draft. The early returns on the investment were strong for Cincinnati, with Siani handling himself just fine offensively (98 wRC+) in the Appy League. He just needs to be close to average from the left side of the plate in order to make it long term, as his defense in center field and throwing arm are both plus. If he can hit enough to maintain a starting role in the major leagues, Siani should be able to swipe 20-plus bases pretty easily. He's a long ways off at 19 and power is not a big part of this equation, though there's always hope that Great American Ball Park will help in that regard. Either way, Siani has the skills base to be worth rostering in deeper dynasty leagues in 2019.
