Cody Ege

Ege spent much of his short career prior to 2016 as a dominant minor league reliever, seemingly finding success at every stop in the minors. The left-hander hit a rough patch this past season, however, as his high-strikeout/low-walk ways disappeared during his tenure with the Marlins' organization. His control troubles, along with his 4.91 ERA out of the Triple-A bullpen, led Miami to designate him for assignment. Things turned back around for Ege after the Angels claimed him off waivers, culminating in a September call-up to the big club, with whom he allowed only one run and struck out nine in 13 appearances (8.2 innings pitched). Despite that success, he was non-tendered by the Angels. His fastball may only sit in the mid- to upper-80s, but the 25-year-old's groundball-heavy approach should earn him major league work again in 2017.
